As Branch Manager for the Pleasant Hill Library in Hastings, Julia works with her team, the library system, and partner organizations to provide responsive and engaging services, programs, and experiences to everyone in the community. She believes that sharing with and learning from colleagues is one of the best ways to improve her own practice as a library person. She previously was the Youth Programming and Outreach Librarian at Dakota County Library, where she ensured that branch librarians were able to deliver excellent programs from storytime to art classes, computer programming to magic, coordinated with others to market these programs, and led the development and implementation of the annual youth summer reading and learning program. Prior to that, Julia was a teen librarian and a children's librarian. Julia is the chair-elect of MLA's Public Library Division, past-chair of the Children and Young People's Section of MLA, a 2015 MILE participant, and co-chair of planning for MILE 2017.
