MnSpin: Minnesota music from Hennepin County Library

Sign up or log in to save this to your schedule and see who's attending!

Just blocks from First Avenue, in the midst of Minnesota's vibrant music scene, Hennepin County Library has engaged the community and brought non-traditional users to our libraries through MnSpin--music from diverse Minnesota musicians covering many genres. MnSpin offers music different from Spotify or iTunes, as the platform is uniquely Minnesotan. Submitted songs are curated by local music experts and library staff and albums can be downloaded or streamed. As an added value, we offer financial support to artists by paying them for their work. MnSpin is currently in our third season, with over 125 artists on our roster. We will be adding up to 100 albums this year, from a record number of 396 submissions. In this session, we'll discuss originating the project, forming a team, working with our vendor, reaching out to musicians, conducting community engagement, selecting curators and even applying for a trademark.
