A Little Dirt Never Hurt: Growing a collaboration between libraries and environmental partners

Sign up or log in to save this to your schedule, view media, leave feedback and see who's attending!

Common ground is a key to any collaboration. Similar mission statements and strategic goals create the perfect opportunity for libraries and their local parks or environmental sites to work together to support the lifelong learning of their residents. This session will detail how the library and parks department in Anoka County came together to establish a partnership and collaborate on programs, events, and staff development opportunities. Those attending the session will learn the practicalities as well as some of the barriers that can occur and muddy up that initial planning. Staff from both library, parks and partners like the UMN Cedar Creek Ecosystem Science Reserve will not only, give the dirt on programming ideas, but, also lay down the ground work for participants to take back to their library to start uncovering the potential for their own amazing partnerships. Come prepared to get your hands dirty with some hands-on activities.
