On New Year's Eve 2018, the Scott County Library hosted a Hogwarts Yule Ball with over 150 tweens and teens enjoying Harry Potter-themed activities hosted by costumed staff and Teen Advisory Board members. We'll share our plan and the easy wins/hard losses required to create your own Yule Ball or any other popular fandom event, including: "Generating ideas from your youth volunteers" Event timing to maximize interest and attendance, Promotion, “reaching fans, creating staff buy-in, and generating excitement" Mistakes were made (or, how command strips let us down)Outcomes, getting meaningful feedback from a room full of super-excited Potterhead" Building on success with follow-up events Panelists include Scott County Library Learning & Outreach Manager Lisa Pollard, Learning & Outreach Specialist Ally Addison, and members of the library Teen Advisory Board.
